Nursing Department Manager - Operating Room

Job Summary:
The Nursing Department Manager for the Operating Room oversees the delivery of nursing services, ensuring safe patient care and compliance with nursing standards and regulatory guidelines. This role involves managing a 13-suite Operating Room with 56 PACU/Pre-Op bays, overseeing services such as general surgery, ENT, GYN, robotics, bariatrics, plastics, orthopedics, and more. The manager collaborates with Nursing Leadership to develop strategic plans and integrated care services, while maintaining high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage 24-hour nursing services to meet cost, quality, and clinical standards.
- Establish and maintain patient care standards, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Nursing Leadership to develop and implement strategic service plans.
- Monitor department budgets, identify cost-saving strategies, and enhance care quality.
- Screen, hire, train, and develop nursing staff; manage human resource and risk management issues.
- Develop and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to organizational standards.
- Participate in leadership committees at the Medical Center, Regional, and National levels.
Education, License, Certification, Registration:
- License: California RN license.
- Certification: American Heart Association BLS.
- Education: BSN or MSN required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of recent OR RN experience in an acute care setting (surgery center experience not accepted).
- Minimum 3 years of recent OR Manager or Supervisor experience in Perioperative settings, preferably in the main OR (Charge Nurse experience does not qualify).
Position Scope:
- Manage 13 OR suites and 56 PACU/Pre-Op bays with an average of 1,000 cases per month.
- Types of cases: general, ENT, GYN, robotic, bariatric, plastic & reconstructive, ortho, joints, sports medicine, and gender reassignment (no spine, hearts, or neuro).
Compensation:
- Salary: $148,800 – $197,340 per year.
- Benefits: Comprehensive package with a sign-on bonus of 10% of the annual salary.
