Job Description

Review post offer medical history with the employee, assess any concerns and make recommendations for referral according to established protocol

Administer drug and alcohol testing per company policies including post offer drug screens

Administer first aid, nursing or emergency care for injuries and illnesses occurring in the workplace that is consistent with the LPN scope of practice, occupational health nursing guidelines, medical directives and protocols. Consults with Corporate Occupational Health Manager or Plant RN(s) and refers cases to a higher level of care when indicated.

Assist with medical cost management through early identification, treatment and follow up nursing care for all injuries and illnesses

Partner with workers compensation adjuster, case managers and providers involved in the provision of care to injured employees for all worker compensation related injuries/ illnesses to resolve claims in a timely manner

Utilize an electronic medical record to maintain accurate injury, OSHA and workers compensation recordkeeping through timely documentation of all interactions, clinical care and case management activities.

Serve as a member of the Safety and Ergonomics committee, supporting safety and ergonomic functions at the location, and provide leadership in recognizing and preventing workplace hazards

Develop wellness initiatives and programs that align with company goals and direction

Lead ergonomics initiatives, analyze injury data, identify trends and implement improvement efforts. Manage the Ergonomics Job Measurement System.

Manage respiratory protection, first responder and blood borne pathogen programs for employees

Conduct new hire orientation related to safety/medical

Advise, coach and educate employees on preventative health and wellness

Maintain adequate medical supplies for the facility, order supplies as needed

Assist with accident investigations

Communicate with medical, legal and insurance personnel. Represent site in litigation proceedings for workers compensation

Consult with the Corporate Occupational Health Manager or Plant Nurse-RN(s) as required

Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

Qualifications and Job Info

Minimum 3 years nursing experience

Active State Nursing License

Knowledge and understanding of OSHA standards and recordkeeping requirements

Highly effective written/verbal and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to communicate and interact effectively with internal and external customers; multi-lingual preferred

Knowledge of Microsoft Office, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experienced in Workers Compensation administration and case management within a manufacturing plant preferred

Ability to keep sensitive information confidential and to appropriately handle critical situations with tact and diplomacy

Ability to work in a fast paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail

Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
