Job Overview – RN - Labor & Delivery:
Our client is seeking a dedicated Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join their esteemed team in Des Moines, IA. This vital role involves providing compassionate and comprehensive care to mothers and their newborns during labor and delivery. The ideal candidate will bring expertise and empathy to the forefront, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for families.

Compensation: $49 - $50/hour
Location: Des Moines, IA
Schedule: Night Shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM


Responsibilities as the RN - Labor & Delivery:

  • Patient Assessment & Care: Perform thorough assessments of mothers and infants, monitoring vital signs and fetal heart rates to ensure the well-being of both.
  • Labor Support: Provide emotional and physical support to mothers throughout labor, assisting with pain management techniques and encouraging positive birth experiences.
  • Delivery Assistance: Collaborate with obstetricians and midwives during delivery, ensuring a safe environment and handling any complications that may arise.
  • Postpartum Care: Offer postpartum care to new mothers, educating them on newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery processes.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses to ensure seamless communication among healthcare providers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the healthcare team, including OB/GYNs, pediatricians, and lactation consultants, to deliver comprehensive care.
Qualifications for the RN - Labor & Delivery:
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery Nursing.
  • Certifications: Current BLS and NRP certifications are required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in labor and delivery procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Attributes: Compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to providing high-quality care to mothers and newborns.
