Matrix Providers is potentially hiring an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse (Adult) to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

  • Employment Status: Full Time. 40 hours per week.
  • Compensation: $135,000 - $145,000 Annually

Requirements: The Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse must have and meet the following:

  • Education: Graduate of a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program OR a Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS) program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
  • Certification: Board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certified or other recognized certifying body. Must maintain current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course; American Red Cross CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for the Professional Rescuer; or equivalent.
  • Experience: Worked continuously as a prescribing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist for two of the last three years. Minimum one year of experience in the past three years caring for psychiatric patients.
  • Licensure: Must pass and maintain a current, active, valid, unrestricted license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist city Prescriptive Authority in at least one U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. All licenses shall be unencumbered and remain in effect during employment. Shall have documentation of current Drug Enforcement Agency number.

Job Summary:

  • Practice independently and collaboratively with other health care team members to ensure a comprehensive plan of care for the patient. Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training for staff members.
  • Perform developmental assessments and screenings; conduct diagnostic and screening tests; initiate and evaluate treatment regimens that may include prescribing and dispensing medication appropriate to the privileged scope of care.
  • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
  • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide case management, care coordination and discharge/disposition planning for outpatient care settings. Coordinate care with multiple providers across all levels and sites of care. Address psychosocial, as well as nursing and medical needs of patients and their families/caregivers, through participation in multidisciplinary patient care management practice. • Assessment: Conduct systematic, on-going, thorough collection of patient’s physical, emotional psychological, social, and medical status and information via direct patient contact and other relevant sources.
  • Planning: Develop an appropriate patient-specific plan of care to include short- and long-term goals, objectives, and actions.
  • • Implementation: Guide the patient and family/care giver through the healthcare system, maximizing use of resources.
  • Coordination: Ensure coordination of care delivery processes, to include alternate healthcare settings and the home environment, for the purposes of enhancing the patient’s health and wellness, safety, productivity, and quality of life, and for providing the most beneficial, cost-effective health care.
  • Evaluation: Monitoring and evaluation may include but is not limited to patient’s adherence and response to the treatment plan.
  • • Share knowledge and experiences relevant to nursing and case management.
