Pain Management NP or PA needed in Berlin, NH
Columbia Healthcare
Job Description
About the POSITION:
Seeking a full-time 4 day/week Pain APP to join a pain management team.
2 years' experience in pain management preferred. If not, then at least 3 years' experience in Primary Care or Ortho.
Provides office based services to new and established patients.
Medication management, certification for medical cannabis, education/counseling, monitoring of medication compliance via PDPM and urine drug screens, minor procedures, and referral to CRNA colleagues for interventions (e.g., epidural steroid injections at various spinal levels, radiofrequency ablation, facet blocks, SI injections, intercoastal blocks) or other services (e.g., ketamine or lidocaine infusions).
Minor procedures may include trigger point injections, joint injections, occipital blocks, cold ablation (Iovera), and Botox for headaches or chronic pain. May use ultrasound guidance for selected procedures. (If candidate is not currently skilled/competent in such procedures, AVH colleagues will precept/train over time. Likely would become fully oriented and comfortable with office management of patients first, then devote time to learning procedures.)
May provide Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) with X waiver. (Such service is not required.)
Infrequently provides consultation for inpatients and ED patients (in rotation with team members).
4 days per week (off on Thursday).
8 am to noon and 1pm to 5 pm (8 hours of clinical time/day)
Appointment durations would begin at 1 hour to allow for orientation to AVH and its EMR. At an appropriate time, appointment durations would be reduced to match standards for AVH pain providers, i.e., 30 minutes for established patients, 60 minutes for new patients, 20 minutes for procedures.
Typical productivity (based on usual mix of new and established patients, procedures, etc.) will be 12 to 20 patients per day.
Shared phone call from home; do not need to come to hospital.
In rotation with AVH-based APRN’s and CRNA’s, so typically 1 week every 4 weeks.
Participation in call rotation would not commence until new APRN is fully trained and practicing independently (e.g., 2 to 6 months at AVH).
